Student Life & Rich Traditions

My family was poor. I got into the military and I heard people talking about a school that was free. When I got out I came to CCNY. I came there, and the woman looked at my high school record and say, 'You got pretty lousy record, but we'll let you go for one semester and then you'll come back. We'll see if you've come up to what our standards are.' When I got back there in 1960, I had been in the military and the ROTC was there. I had some great teachers there who really helped me and push me in the right direction. It made me have a very interesting and life.
