Henry "Hank" H. Firestone

BE '58

Faculty & Staff

It was a highly-rated school and it had no fees. I served in the Army before I went to the City College of New York. I was overseas in Germany from 1952 to 1955. I had Professor Boleslaw Szymanski for physics. When he was going to be absent, he called on Mr. Firestone to take over the class. When I was graduating, I brought him a recommendation sheet to fill out for me. He started to tell me how good it was that some of the students were applying for a fellowship. I explained I had been married all the time that I went to school. My wife said it was time to have a job. After graduation, I spent two years at Hughes. They called all the engineers 'members of the technical staff.' After two years, I decided to go to Litton Industries and pursue a job with them. I was there for 34 years and left them as a program office director.
