BE '10
I'm originally from Ecuador, and I moved to New York in 2004. I knew very little English back then, and my main reason to come to New York was to get a professional degree. My stepmother, who works for CUNY, helped me fill out applications. I wanted to be an engineer my entire life. I applied to colleges, and the City College of New York at the time was a great school for engineering. I was lucky to get accepted there, and that put me in a good place to get started with my career. I started my engineering degree in 2005, and I was super happy because I didn't have to wait much time since my arrival in New York to start college. My experience there was great because of how multicultural CCNY and the people that I got to meet were, especially my professors. I enjoyed every single year at CCNY. Even with the ups and downs, I'm very grateful to have obtained my degree there. I graduated in 2010, and it took me a while to get my first professional job at McLaren Engineering Group, and I have been with them ever since. I'm very proud to say that I'm a CCNY alumnus.
