BS '79
At the time CCNY was the only college that was offering a four-year bachelor's in computer science. This was back in 1974 when I graduated from high school. Besides it's here in the city, so I didn't have to travel far. It was more of the atmosphere that made an impression on me because when I first started there, I immediately made a lot of friends, both student-wise and also professor-wise. I had two or three professors that became good friends during the course of the year. I did meet my future wife there also during summer classes. There was a class that I had to take and decided to take it over the summer. It turned out that she was taking the same classes I was at the time. We met in Shepard Hall. All of the courses that were offered there, which were a requirement in computer science, are no longer offered for a bachelor's in computer science anywhere. There were things that I learned there that I thought I would never see again in real life. CCNY helped me be more aware of ongoing things around me. It made me pay attention to more things. It gave me that kind of feeling to look at both sides and give people equal time.
