Student Life & Rich Traditions

I have nothing but warm memories of CCNY. I remember how awed I was on my first day, seeing the beautiful architecture of the North Campus buildings, which is where all my classes were. Looking back I realize what a great education I received at CCNY and how it allowed me to grow and prosper professionally. Also a big plus for me financially was that at the time I attended CCNY tuition was completely free for all NYC residents. Another big plus was CCNY's openness to everybody no matter what race, religion, or social strata you happened to be from. Last, but not least, was the quality of the teaching staff at CCNY, who were all excellent. As for my student studies I began as a major in chemical engineering, but, due to difficulty with some of the required theoretical physics courses, I decided to change my major to the applied psychology area which was a better overall match for my broader applied science and technology interests. As it turned out it was a very good decision. I graduated CCNY with a BS in psychology and immediately landed a technical job in Rochester, New York, working for a major aerospace company as a human factors engineer. While in Rochester I used the time to go back to night college for an MBA degree to gain business acumen that would complement my CCNY technical skills. This combination lead to a very successful career for me including jobs as human factors and aerospace engineer, operations manager, project manager, process improvement consultant, and program manager. Thank you CCNY for making all of this possible for just an average kid from the Bronx.
