Career Success

When I was in high school, CCNY was the school that I wanted to go to. It had a reputation as being one of the best schools in the city, and I liked the courses that they offered. The history of the school really appealed to me. The instructors and professors that I had were very knowledgeable in their fields. I majored in political science and the professors I had in my major were outstanding academically and in terms of the coursework and what I've learned. That was one of the biggest pluses that I remember. Some of the other students and people that I met in addition to the faculty were a big part of it. I wound up going into a different profession. My interest when I graduated was in government. I thought about a government career. I eventually got drafted into the military for two years, so that put me on a different track. By the time I came out I a different place in my life. Several years after that, I got involved in social work and decided to make that a career. I got my master's of social work. I was able to have a 40-year career with Catholic Charities in Brooklyn, which I retired from a couple of years ago. CCNY helped me get started on a path that led to my time with Catholic Charities, along with other things. It was a very important factor. It was a direct connection for me through CCNY that helped start that. I was very fortunate to be able to have a long career.
