First-Generation College Grads

I chose to attend the City College of New York because of its reputation; it was my first school of choice. I was the first in the family to graduate from college and CCNY. I came from a small school, so the idea of being on a large campus was a bit intimidating. Also I learned to swim because it was a requirement, and I played golf with three other left-handed. After graduating I got my master's. I did work-study. As a result I discovered I had a knack for proofreading, so I was a freelance proofreader for many years when my raising my children and the general knowledge was good. I did not study for a specific skill set, but I absorbed a lot. Now I'm an administrator of a nonprofit organization, which I've had for about 25 years.
