Career Success

I was working for the New York City Human Resources Administration, and CCNY offered a program for working people at that time. I worked and attended classes at the same time. There were a lot of exciting professors. I enjoyed a particular class, which was Police and Community. I received my degree when I was in my 40s. It was an opportunity for me to show my two children that it was possible to receive an education at that time. I became a principal administrator associate in New York City. I went on to train staff, including directors. I spent 32 years working for the city. It's an amazing career. It inspired my son and my daughter. My son went on to receive his degree from Brooklyn College. He spent 24 years in the Marine Corps, came out, went to work with the City of New York, became an EMT, and worked his way up to Lieutenant and to Captain Paramedic. He now has his own house because of my experience. My daughter now works at Rockefeller Center. She's been there now for quite a few years. I'm so proud of both of them. I appreciate the most that CCNY gave me an opportunity to achieve what they had to offer.
