BE '99
I chose the City College of New York because it offered a quality engineering education. The life on campus was very enjoyable. I originally started in the early 80s, and then I went into the military. I worked in various fields, both technical and non-technical. I completed my degree later in 1999. It was a lot more rigid in the beginning, but towards the end, the campus was very vibrant and multicultural. We always had a lot of activities to get into, and I participated in various mechanical engineering organizations. I was involved with ASME, or the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and I became the treasurer at one point. The professors were very helpful and very nurturing. They helped me along the way. I found that the engineering education that I obtained was of a very high caliber. It enables me to perform my duties and do anything I'm asked to do. It gave me the ability to get information and use that information based on my bachelor's education. After I left CCNY, I worked in AJAC for a while and I also did some traffic engineering. I finally joined Con Edison in 2006. First I worked in the IT route for engineering and then I was transferred to the power plants. I'm currently at the 59th Street Power Station working as a rotating equipment and balance of plant engineer. CCNY is my alma mater, where I learned my craft and my profession from the bottom up.
