Career Success

After graduation from CCNY, I was lucky to land a job with General Electric. I went to training in Schenectady, New York. I was reassigned to places in New York after all of that training. I ended up in Pennsylvania, which was good. It gave me a chance to understand the country and the places I lived in a little better while I was on the road servicing power stations on industrial equipment. All of that work for GE went well for two years, and I started looking at other possibilities. I landed a job in Florida. I needed a change of climate. I know that New York was a little cold, as well as all the places I had been. I had been to a place named Egypt in Pennsylvania, and there was snow on the ground. I had never seen an Egypt in the United States until I saw that town. My life has been a good one. I worked with a good power company. I started work at 8:00 a.m. and I would go back home at 4:00 p.m., except when there was a problem. Sometimes I would be called out of bed to come to the plant because it was needed. I felt a little bit of importance when doing things on a certain date, and a certain satisfaction in being able to do something. CCNY was a big part of that.
