I came from a poor family, so I chose CCNY because it was free and a wonderful college. I did very well in high school and I was accepted immediately. I was very excited to be able to go, so that's what I did. I'm very pleased because I got an education as good as what I could have gotten at Harvard. What made the biggest impression on me was a professor who saw some promise in me and became my mentor. He was incredible and really changed my life. My first course with him was a Shakespeare course. He taught literature. CCNY taught me that I was pretty smart and I could do anything I wanted to do. I ended up getting my master's from Columbia University. I'm a learning specialist. I work with children and adults with learning disabilities.
