Career Success

I decided to go to CCNY because of their pre-med program. Their Department of Psychology was also very well-respected. The psychology and sociology professors were invested not only into academics but also ensuring that we could take our learning and adapt it to our everyday experience. The atmosphere of being surrounded by other people of color also stood out. I didn't feel so constrained to an environment that was very white-dominant. Diversity was important. Because of my relationship with CCNY, it also helped me connect my first job with the New York State Psychiatric Institute. I became a research scientist with them while I was still a student at CCNY. That was a good time putting the theories I'd learned into practice. From there, I went to graduate school in Washington, DC, and got my master's in divinity. My psychology and sociology background really shaped how I work in community organizing and my role in the clergy. From there, it led me to my second master's in management, my doctorate, and another degree in counseling. I see CCNY as a stepping stone for me to branch out, feel comfortable, and further my education.
