Min. David Thomas

I had the opportunity to shake hands with Colin Powell; that was a great experience to see someone who was that high in our government humble themselves and visit CCNY. It was a humbling experience to have that opportunity that I didn't think I would even have. CCNY was in the neighborhood. My second oldest sister went there for a while, and I was always inspired to try to go there. I was in an engineering field. I was in the Black Student Union for a while. I remember Dr. Leonard Jeffries. I worked with the Parks Department for three and a half years. I went to work for MTA and completed 32 years. Now I've been driving street trucks for at least 25 years, delivering supplies to various bus depots and trains. CCNY motivated me to get to a place where I would have an opportunity and never give up. I'm an associate minister at the Churchill Baptist Church Of Christ.
