Career Success

Two of my sisters went to the City College of New York before me. At the time, it was one of the better engineering schools in the area, and the cost was definitely part of the equation. The diversity of the student population made an impression on me. Being in a university that large with that many people was a new experience. CCNY was a stepping stone to my career. They used to run a job fair where companies would come and interview the students. They mostly did this for engineering students, and companies would interview the students at the university for a couple of weeks. CCNY would have different companies come. After you passed that first round, the company would invite you to their location for an interview. That's how I got my first position, which was for a defense contractor company. I then worked on a project for the Air Force. I went to work for General Electric and I worked on a communication contract for the Air Force. I worked there for a couple of years, and then I went on to work for NASA for seven years.
