Career Success

CCNY was convenient, and I was accepted into the SEEK program. They had the courses that I needed. They gave us five years to finish our BA because they knew that some of us would need remedial classes. I loved CCNY because it prepared me so that I could have a wonderful teaching career. I taught at George Washington High School for ten years until I moved to the Boys Choir Of Harlem until I retired in 2013. I got my master's in language and literacy which helped further my career as a professional developer and lead teacher for the English Department in the Boys Choir of Harlem. In my first ten years at George Washington High School, I was a house coordinator of the Outward Bound House where we combined reading, writing, and adventure and the students thrived. CCNY was my lifeline to achieving a great career, life goals, and secure retirement. Thank you to Thelma Baxter who gave me my first opportunity to teach and to my counselor at CCNY who showed me the way.
