My parents weren't able to afford a college education for me. The City College of New York was the only opportunity I had to go to college since there was no tuition. I met my wife in my psychology class. It was a marvelous experience. I became a history instructor and was drafted into the Army. They sent me to radar repair school for nine months, and when I was discharged, I became a radar design engineer. I went back to school, got a degree in psychology, and became a psychologist. I grew up at the City College of New York on every level. I was very grateful for that opportunity because it really set the tone of my life. I don't know how I would have developed in such a positive way if it wasn't for City College.
