Student Life & Rich Traditions

Originally I thought I was going to study accounting. The summer before I was to start at CCNY, I decided I wanted to become a lawyer. I moved from downtown to uptown and got a BA. I was a commuter and lived in Queens. I spent a couple of hours every day traveling on the subway. I decided that, for the first time in my life, I was going to become a hardworking student. I came to believe that the most important skill to acquire would be how to think logically; the professors who helped me the most were the ones who emphasized that. I graduated magna cum laude, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Thereafter I received a law degree from Harvard Law School. After law school I was on active duty in the Army for six months and spent five and a half years in the reserves. I was first a trial attorney with the Securities and Exchange Commission, and then spent 40 years with the same law firm, first as an associate and then as a partner. I have been retired for almost 14 years.
