I chose to attend the City College of New York because of the program that they offered. They had instituted a program called the Urban Teachers Program, and they were offering a master's. They were recruiting minority students to teach in New York City urban communities. I was recruited for Community School District 4. It was in Central Harlem adjacent to CCNY. I wasn't a day student.
