BA '65
I was the first generation in my family to go to college. I attended the City College of New York because of its incredible reputation for a diversity of academic offerings and its affordable cost. CCNY was very welcoming, despite the size of the campus. I was welcomed by people from different departments. I received both my bachelor's and master's at CCNY. After graduating I started my teaching career, but wanted additional degrees to be qualified as a licensed professional counselor. Therefore I attended Fordham University for my additional degrees in counseling and administration. CCNY opened up incredible opportunities for me in terms of my career path. It enabled me to feel very comfortable knowing that I was given every opportunity to be the best I could be in terms of what I wanted to do. I didn't just want to teach, but I also wanted to touch young people's lives. CCNY taught me how to do it. Moreover the staff seemed very invested in who I was and what I wanted to do. Overall I had a satisfying experience at CCNY. I was, indeed, fortunate!
