I lived in the city, and my friends were going to the City College of New York. I applied there, and they accepted me. I had a part-time job. I went back at night and earned the degree in 1970. I went on and got a master's in sociology. I had jobs in magazine publishing, working in the production department, and putting the magazine together. I am eternally grateful to CCNY for taking me back and letting me be able to feel the sense of completion. I lost my family. I had struggled as a child and as a young adult, but CCNY offered enough to me so that I could go back and achieve what I had hoped to achieve as a very young child.
