Marzena Ellis (Patejuk), PE

I came from Poland in 1991 with a BS in mechanical engineering. I knew some English but was not very fluent. About two years later, I went to CCNY to find out how to get master's in civil or mechanical engineering so I could get a job as an engineer. Just before I graduated CCNY, my college professor helped me to get a summer internship with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection. My first real engineering job after I graduated was at a private company in upstate New York. I was there for half a year before I went back again to the NYCDEP. About two years later, I started working at the United States Army Corps of Engineers and I never changed my job again.
