I wanted to major in education and be a teacher. CCNY had a good education program, so I decided to go there. I wanted to go into early childhood education, and I became a preschool teacher at the age of 21. The best thing about CCNY was that I met my husband there. He was an education major as well, and we ended up being in the same class. I also met my best friend Stephanie at CCNY. I became very involved in social justice because it was the time of the Vietnam War, and the draft was a big issue at the time. My instructors were amazing, and I got a well-rounded education. I stayed as a preschool teacher even after I moved to San Diego. I got my master's and became a principal at a middle school. That's what I currently do here in San Diego.
