Student Life & Rich Traditions

I attended CCNY because of the fact that it was free. I was also the first one in my family to attend college. I entered in 1948. I had a job in the sociology department. I was also on the student council at one time. I had my daughter, and that didn't keep me from continuing in school. I had to take time off, I was working full-time, and, originally, I was in the class of 1952 and I couldn't take the time out. I was working full-time and I was able to work out with my employer, because I worked for Jewish Family Service and I was supposed to work one night a week. That prevented me from taking classes, so I had to do everything part-time and graduated in 1956. I went to NYU graduate school, and I worked for the housing authority. I was assigned to the Riverdale Children's Association. I worked with foster children, and my other assignment for my second year of graduate school was a youth house. I was at a youth house for quarries.
