BA '54

I went to CCNY because it was a college for first-generation people like myself. After I graduated, I took advantage of joining the military. There was a commission as a Second Lieutenant for people who were occupational therapists or physical therapists, and I jumped at that. I went through the Army taking courses, and it was wonderful. I was assigned to an Army hospital, and from there, I met my husband in the military and got married, then I was promoted to First Lieutenant. I got the GI Bill when I got out of the military, and I used it to get my master's. I was president of the Education Society at the City College of New York, and I called Eleanor Roosevelt to speak to the campus. That was around 1954.
