BA '47
I chose CCNY because it was free, and I was also going to major in accounting and the Accounting Department had a good reputation. All the city colleges under CCNY in Brooklyn were free. I entered in September 1941 and, and the US went into World War II in December, so everything got expedited. I tried to get through as quickly as I could. I went to the summer session of 1942, but in the spring session of 1943, I was ill and I was out for a month. I decided that I better just withdraw, that I'd never catch up with what I lost. I withdrew from the school and then, in October 1943, I was inducted into the Army. I spent two-and-a-half years in the Army. I got out in April 1946, and I went back to the city in the summer of 1946. I managed to get enough credits to graduate by completing the summer of 1947. I was very happy with the education I got there. Most of all I was very happy that I met the girl who became my wife there. I have very good memories of CCNY. CCNY impacted me in a positive way. Certainly starting with meeting my wife there, but it also enabled me to get into a good law school. I lived down here in Washington for many years and I used to be active at the City College Alumni Association here.
