Student Life & Rich Traditions

I was the first in my family, not only to attend CCNY but also to graduate from college. I started to go to evening class because I had to work during the daytime. After I graduated from high school in June 1964, I started beautician school, so that I could earn some money to be able to attend evening classes at CCNY. By the time I finished six months at the beautician school, I was already ready for a CCNY and then continue to work during the daytime, and I went to school in the evening. I left the beautician school because it was too much. I used to get out of work too late, and I really needed to put more time into a CCNY and into my higher education. I was blessed by the fact I had left being a beautician, and I went to work in an office. From there I became the secretary, and I got married. I had a baby, and he was a blessing because when I went to school full-time.
