CCNY was the only school I could afford. I was a poor immigrant when I got off the boat. It was my best bet. The faculty there were all excellent teachers. I can't complain about any of them. I then went to Washington, DC, and enrolled in a graduate school: George Washington University. I went on and got my Doctor of Science. I then got a job with the US government and that's where I stayed for about 35 years. That was a good career move from New York and coming to Washington. CCNY was excellent because it taught me that people are valued on the basis of their performance. After graduation, I was a civil engineer, but then I became a research scientist in a government lab and then a manager in the US Department of Defense. I spent 20 years at the Pentagon as a senior manager in international programs, international cooperation in research and development, and export control. After my retirement from the government, I got a job in Moscow, Russia, as an executive director of the International Science and Technology Center. That was a fantastic job.
