I chose to attend the City College of New York because I lived in Brooklyn and I wanted to be an engineer. CCNY in those days was the best around. I had to travel an hour and a half on the subway, standing only, just to get to my classes in the morning. I graduated after three and a half years because I had credits when I transferred my pre-engineering courses. CCNY for me was the opportunity to get a good education and prepare for the real world.
