Faculty & Staff

I chose to go there because it was convenient. I came from Jamaica where I worked at Mount Alvernia High School as head of the Social Studies Department. I also pastored church in Montego Bay, and supervised six others. So I was very busy. I migrated to New York and went into teaching, to begin with. I thought I had a master's before, but I was interested in getting something more, considering the students I had to work with. I chose CCNY because it was convenient. I was happy with it because I had very good professors, and the environment was conducive to reasonably good study. I had to do research. The professors I met were very kind. The relationships that I had with them were very good. The library was good. It was nice going into the library, sitting down, and reading. Apart from my four-year theological diploma as a clergyman, I had a bachelor's and a master's. I also had a post-graduate diploma in education from University of West Indies, but I decided I needed something more. Having gone to CCNY, I was blessed to graduate with honors. CCNY means a lot to me. It was motivating. I got so much from there that I decided I was going to go on to do a PhD. If I hadn't gone to CCNY, I may not have had that motivation. I later retired from teaching and returned to full-time pastoral work. I retired about eight years ago. CCNY has been, and still is, a very good college. I had absolutely no regrets.
