Student Life & Rich Traditions

The City College of New York at that time offered a free education. Coming from a poor family, that was important. They also offered an engineering degree, and there weren't that many colleges in the area that offered engineering degrees. Those were the two incentives to go there. The experience and the teachers were very good. I liked them. It was a five-year program basically, which was interesting because most colleges were a four-year program. It was well worth it because it was very comprehensive and the engineering programs were good. That was very inspiring for me. Being a chemical engineer put me into a good work position. It gave me a good education, so when I went on for a master's at Brooklyn Poly, I was well-prepared and did well with that too. The Chemical Engineering Department at CCNY was good, and the variety of the courses that the department offered was excellent.
