I chose to attend the City College of New York because it was easy to get to, was not expensive, and I got accepted. I ended up being a biology major, after first taking a science course for non-science majors, while being an English literature major at the time. Professor Alexander Klots took us out to city parks and had us discover the rich insect life that abounded there, and so had me hooked into studying entomology. CCNY had an excellent biology faculty and a biology club that I joined and through which I made lifelong friends. I joined Hillel and made friends there too. It was Rabbi Zuckerman from Hillel who officiated at my marriage to Irwin Brodo, a fellow biology student a year ahead of me.
