John Paul Bimbiras

I went to the City College of New York because it was reasonably affordable, I liked the faculty in the Music Department, and I already had a number of friends in the music program. The combination of those things made it seem like a great choice for me. While I was there I took composition lessons with Pulitzer Prize winner David Del Tredici. He taught me so much about the inner workings of complex musical structures and how to arrange instruments for the orchestra, and the experience completely changed the way I think about music. Professor Chadwick Jenkins was an inspiration for his command of musicology, history, philosophy, and other disciplines. I would also like to thank Dr. Ramona Hernandez for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the CUNY DSI community.
