1958
I chose CCNY because it was convenient to where I lived in Manhattan. I took the M104 bus, an easy and short ride. I usually walked the three miles or so home. Having graduated from high school at 16, I felt I was too young to go out of town. When I was a junior, I transferred to the University of Michigan but missed CCNY and my friends so much, I came back to New York after a month and re-matriculated; graduating in 1958. My most memorable experiences at college involved working on the observation post, for which I wrote stories, news, and features. Writing was a major interest of mine after college and although I taught public school in the city, in Chicago, and in Washington DC, I ended up collaborating with my husband, Irwin Unger, CCNY 1948, on several books about American History. My experience at CCNY was wonderful and I'm glad to be a graduate.
