CCNY was my top choice. It was a four-year college. I was accepted for a grant and loan program, which I needed. I was able to become more connected to people because there was always something interesting going on at the school. I became interested in social justice. I learned a great deal listening to the various students comment on how they felt about situations that existed at the school and in the world. Taking classes was eye opening for me. It forced me to look into my reservoir of experiences to determine how I would be as an educator. My philosophy instructor was a true ivory tower intellectual. Initially it was challenging but eventually it helped me to shape my opinion of what I should aspire to be in my own classroom.
