I knew that CCNY was rated as one of the best colleges in the country. The professors were all good, and it was close to home, which was good. I came from very humble beginnings; being able to stay at home and take the subway to school was important for me back then. I was in Northern California, and I had two cousins that graduated there. I also had a close friend who still lives in New York. CCNY was a way to get a top-notch education and start on my road to bigger successes and more things to do.
