Career Success

I chose the City College of New York because the standards of the college were very high and it was the best education available for me. It was an opportunity to go to college because there was no tuition at the college at the time. It was a multicultural college, and the student population was extremely varied; I found that to be one of the important things about the college. When I graduated, I also received my master's in education from CCNY. That was important because it led me to become a principal and a deputy superintendent. When I retired as a consultant, it prepared me well with all of these experiences. CCNY prepared me for the challenges of being an educator and for working in the New York City Department of Education. It impacted my thinking in terms of how to approach being an educator and being open to challenge myself and work with others. That kind of experience was invaluable.
