The City College of New York had one of the top engineering schools. My most memorable moment was my time spent on the men's varsity fencing team. Coach Ed Lucia was on the 1964 Olympic team as a coach for fencing. He was our coach, and has produced numerous all-Americans over his long career. I remember our small fencing room in Lewisohn Stadium, where we received lessons and also running the colonnades to build up our stamina. I graduated with an electrical engineering degree, and I went straight to work for IBM. I spent 28 years there. I traveled all over the world as part of my work on digital imaging for museums and libraries. I was involved with numerous high profile projects including the Vatican Library, the Library of Congress, the Hermitage museum, and National Palace Museum in Taiwan. I was promoted several times, and my final title was an advisory engineer. Currently I'm retired and volunteering on the alumni association board of CCNY, and I'm trying to give back. I am also volunteering my time as a volunteer at the CCNY Archives working to digitize and catalog some old sports related photographs. I also returned to fencing for exercise and am currently a member of the fencers club and also serving on its board. A group of our alumni have also raised some funds to help the current women's varsity fencing team.
