BA '57

I grew up in the Bronx. My father was an immigrant, and he went to the City College of New York. We knew we were going to go there. In those days, we thought CCNY was the best, so that was why there was never any question. I majored in psychology as I knew when I was young that I wanted to be a child psychologist. I took geology and I adored it, so I minored in it. I had the most wonderful professors. They were brilliant and very supportive of me. I never had a faculty member who was negative. CCNY in those days had a master's in school psychology, so I got an MA there. I worked at a Lincoln Medical Center Mental Health Center for a bunch of years. Through them, I was sent to a school in the Bronx as a school psychologist and I worked there for several years. I then went on to NYU to get my PhD in clinical psychology. While I was working on my PhD, I got a job at a Community Health Center on 100th Street in Manhattan. I was there for about eight years. I became the director of the Mental Health Clinic. I then met the new medical director who was coming in, and I didn't like him. Eventually, I fell in love with him, and he became my husband. We've been together for 42 years. Those years at CCNY were wonderful. When I think about them, I get this wonderful feeling in my body. CCNY was the foundation for the rest of my life.
