I decided I wanted to become a school administrator with a degree. I felt that people from all walks of life with all kinds of abilities and with all kinds of aspirations were part of CCNY. Consequently that was the best place for me to get my education if I were going to be an effective administrator in the city. What stood out for me was the great diversity. CCNY had a fine reputation with all its blips and gold and brilliant students. I knew exactly what it was that I needed to do and how to handle myself in the classroom as well as among the administrators. I've learned a whole lot more about the real world. I learned about great gifts because New York City is indeed one of the greatest gifts that have been bestowed upon us. There's a room in New York for everybody. All it takes is a bit of effort on one spot, and effort is the operative word. I taught school in the city for umpteen years, and it was the proper thing to have done. CCNY means opportunity. It also means that everybody can look at the college itself, see oneself, be inspired, go ahead, and do what one has to do.
