2016
I applied to both Hunter College and CCNY. When I went to CCNY and I interviewed at the college, I just got a really good vibe from the place. It was really organized. Once I got the acceptance letter, they sent me information about what I needed to do in order to meet the qualifications and in order to start taking master's classes as well. I thought that was really good, and that's pretty much the reason why I decided to go there, because I liked how they communicated. They were very clear about what I needed to do to get my skills where they needed to be in order to do what I wanted to do. I had really great professors there, but there were three that definitely stood out. Jan Valle definitely stood out to me because she was really kind and generous with her time and efforts that she put in helping me out and trying to figure out what direction to go with my career. That meant a lot. Being able to have that class with her and having those conversations with her made a big difference. Then I had Professor Nadjwa Norton. She was amazing because she was strict and really knowledgeable. I liked that because it really pushed me to meet her expectations. I liked being challenged in that way, to push my limits. I'm really appreciative of her and Jan because they definitely had such a great demeanor about them, and they definitely had my back. The other professor was Jan Spero, who was my supervisor for student teaching. She was awesome! She's been very supportive throughout the student teaching process, and even after. I still call her to this day and talk to her whenever I'm having issues or when things were coming up that I wasn't quite sure about professionally.
