I think the location and family tradition prompted me to go to the City College of New York. My father and a couple of uncles went there. They were engineers. I enjoyed the camaraderie of the other architecture students and the whole architectural learning experience. We were the first class in what had been an old garage that was converted to house the new School of Architecture, separate from the engineering building. I think there were about 75 of us. The small number allowed us to have our own space to work in. We had a good time and formed close bonds. It was a very enjoyable and stimulating learning experience.
