I was the first one in my family to attend college, and I was an immigrant from Germany. There were several things that inspired me to attend the City College of New York. It was close to home, I could attend all my classes at night, and the tuition was free at the time. I started there when I got out of the Army, and I was already in my mid-20s. CCNY was close to my workplace, so everything worked out fine. I was interested in getting my degree. After graduation, I got a job at a company and worked my way up. I retired from Gasco Engineering Corporation after 24 years. I then went to Florida and I've been here for over 32 years.
