I am the first generation of my family to attend college. I chose the City College of New York because I was interested in business. Fortunately, my grades were good enough to be able to be accepted. Because I was at CCNY, I was able to work in New York City with all of its retail outlets. I worked part-time in the afternoons, and in the morning, I would go to school. I did my homework on the subway. My major was in retail, and that's what I did after I left the school. I was able to get a job immediately where I was working in an executive position. All of that occurred because I was able to go to college. CCNY afforded me that opportunity and I was grateful for it.
