I chose the City College of New York because my parents wanted me to go there. I started at Baruch College and then I made the transfer. It was the best thing that I did. I had a degree in studio art while majoring in ceramics, and I minored in art history. At that time, in 1992, CCNY opened up this ceramic studio to have an exhibition for the first time, and I was able to exhibit my work. CCNY had a phenomenal ceramics studio, and the art library that they had is like no other. CCNY had an excellent art program. The professors at that time were phenomenal. The woman who ran the program was Sylvia Netzer, and my sculpture teacher was Colin Chase. They were not people who wanted to get a degree and teach art; they were real artists themselves. Sylvia Netzer saw the determination and the artisticness in me. When she was given a larger office, she gave her office to me and another young lady and we turned it into our studio.
