The City College of New York was a really good college. I wanted to major in chemistry, and that was the place to do it. At the time the colleges were free, and the only thing I had to pay for was my books, fees, and incidentals. There were three children in the family, and all of whom went to CCNY. It was really fortunate that it didn't cost a fortune. What made an impression on me was most of the professors I had in chemistry. They were all good, but Professor Edmonds was the only one who really made an impression on me. I took Russian as an elective, and I had an excellent professor there. After I got my degree at CCNY, I went on to teach chemistry in high school. Then I went and got a master's in urban affairs and policy analysis at the New School for Social Research. CCNY was a wonderful place to go to meet different people of different ethnic backgrounds and different experiences.
