I attended CCNY because it was free for me back then, and it was the reputation that drew me to attend there. I spent two years in the Army before I went to CCNY, and I was the first in my family to attend there. I was on the campus newspaper while I was there, so I spent a lot of time in the city during the evenings. I made a lot of friends at the college, and I was not worried about expenses. CCNY meant freedom for me. I was the first in my family to finish college successfully, and I made an impact on my siblings because all of them went to CCNY as well.
