Student Life & Rich Traditions

At the time I thought I was going to go on for a doctorate in history, and CCNY worked in terms of attending and working as well. They had a really well reputed history department, so I applied, got accepted and went there. I was very pleased. There was something very special about CCNY. I ended up there for graduate work trying to figure out how and what to do. The professors there were fabulous. Watson and Henry Huttenbach were wonderful professors. They made us work and think. It was a really good experience academically. Having different diverse people of every kind in the classroom was equally wonderful. I learned to speak up instead of being quiet. My experience at CCNY definitely laid the basis for me to be confident that my ideas could be expressed. It gave me a look onto the world that was more inclusive. CCNY made me more able to relate to a lot of different people and try to see things from their point of view. It was a wholesome and well-rounded education. When I initially opened up my own law office in Brooklyn, Professors Watson and Huttenbach both congratulated and contacted me on how glad they were that I had followed up with the law. That's the kind of personal input and respect they held for their students. I feel so proud that I attended the City College of New York. My gratitude increases as I age in a time filled with such uncertainty and argument rather than encounter and debate in their classical meanings!
