Student Life & Rich Traditions

After initially attending University of Colorado right after high school, then dropping out, I chose to go back to school and chose the City College of New York to complete my bachelor's. I wanted to qualify for bigger jobs and knew not having a bachelor’s would hold me back, at least in terms of corporate jobs. By that time I had worked in corporate communications and knew I wanted to specialize in that field. I felt CCNY offered a program that was good for working adults; I was able to attend classes at night. One of the other things I appreciated about the curriculum were all the case studies in communications that were shared, as well as the focus on journalism and writing. My credits from University of Colorado were mostly transferable, which also saved me time in terms of completing my overall program. I would say to incoming students that a bachelor's and formal education or training are good things to have in your arsenal of professional skills. It just opens up many more doors in your career and makes you eligible for more opportunities, as well as enhancing your credibility as a subject matter expert in your field. Notably once you’ve earned your degree, the achievement can never be taken from you. It’s there forever.
