Student Life & Rich Traditions

My parents wanted me to attend the City College of New York. Actually, in a half joking manner, what they said was, 'We will put ourselves into debt if you get into Harvard, but if not you are heading to Convent Avenue!' I never regretted a minute I spent at CCNY. I had two favorite professors, and one of them was Joel Oppenhiemer and the other was Marshall Berman. Professor Berman was very important to me in launching my first career as a political scientist. I was able to attend CCNY with my soon-to-be wife and made friends for life there as well. I remember a great diner named EJ's Luncheonette close to the north campus where I often had my coffee in the morning. CCNY instilled in me great regard and respect for public education and equity. Currently I am teaching psychology at Princeton University, and I also have a private practice as a clinical psychologist.
