I chose to attend the City College of New York because of the biology program, which I knew was a good program. I knew it was competitive, and I knew that it was going to be challenging, but at the same time I was hoping that there would be rewards at the end. I was also a commuter student, and I think a lot of my classmates who were also commuter students saw CCNY as one of the better options. While I was there I was a tutor and a college assistant. Those experiences led me to work at another department on campus. It then led me to apply to other higher education positions. I went on to get my master's, while still having that position at CCNY. It was nice that I could work during the day and do my graduate work in the evening. I had a great education at the right price at CCNY. It taught me that to be a good student is not necessarily how smart you are, but how much you can prepare on your own.
